Pokemon Day 2024 brought with it a flurry of announcements at the highly anticipated annual Pokemon Presents event. This annual celebration marks the anniversary of the original launch of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green in Japan on February 27, 1996. Since its inception in 2006, Pokemon Day has become a tradition for fans worldwide.
This year’s Pokemon Presents showcased a diverse array of announcements. Ranging from significant game reveals to smaller updates for existing titles. Let’s delve into the highlights of the Pokemon Day.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
The standout announcement of the day undoubtedly belonged to Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The newest addition to the franchise promises a fresh gaming experience, set in the vibrant metropolis of Lumiose City. The teaser clip provided a glimpse into the game’s premise. Hinting at an intriguing “urban redevelopment plan” for the Kalos region, the setting of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will have a worldwide release in 2025.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket
Following closely behind was the revelation of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket app. This innovative digital platform allows players to collect and battle with their favorite Pokemon cards online. With the added perk of being able to open two packs daily for free. Including immersive cards scheduled for release in 2024.
Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go updates centered around Pokemon Horizons: The Series. Introducing iconic characters such as Captain Pikachu, Ceruledge, Charcadet, and Armarouge. Scheduled to run from March 5 to March 11.

The addition of Geeta and Glimmora kicks off a new event starting on Feb. 28, followed by the appearance of Silver and Tyranitar on March 1, alongside Sygna Suit Gladion and Magearna. Additionally, the introduction of a photo creator will follow.

Pokemon Unite
Nintendo introduces Miraidon, Falinks, and Ceruledge to its ever-expanding Unite roster.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid Battles
Lastly, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet enthusiasts can look forward to Tera Raid Battles featuring Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard. The “A Mighty Venusaur,” “A Mighty Blastoise,” and “A Mighty Charizard” events are scheduled to run consecutively from February 28 to March 17.
